Biking at dusk and night

Original post made by Jon, Barron Park, on Aug 6, 2012

This summer I have noticed that a lot of children in the 10 to 18 age range ride bicycles without headlights or taillights in the early and sometimes late evenings. Commonly, the riders, being normal, cut corners and keep up their speed going through stop and yield signs. We are lucky that there aren't many bike-car accidents. Any sane parent of a bike rider ought to equip his or her kid's bike with appropriate lights.

The same kids that text while they ride, without wearing a helmet? So many high school kids bike with their helmets on their handlebars. They should be ticketed and the ticket sent to their parents. I think most parents in the area have no idea how dangerously their kids are acting.
