Another one bites the dust? Well done, Stanford PD!

A lot of missing information here ..

For folks who have never been up to the Stanford Dish, or hiked the trail .. how many homes are there in the so-called "preserve"? Is this Stanford land? Which police agency becomes the lead agency? Which agency will be involved with processing this fellow? And how is it that his presence became known? Have there been burglaries in the Stanford Campus residence section like there have been here in Palo Alto?

Not to mention all of the other missing details that a good paper would want to relay to its readers.

"nimbly" climbed the fence and approached the shed with one hand on his holstered weapon? Is this author writing a suspense novel. Where is the "it was a dark and stormy night" ?

We have been awaiting comment from the Stanford Department of Public Safety PIO (public information officer) and will update the story as soon as possible.

How about some real information like name, address, and mug shot of the perp?

I do not care about the exact wording of the unnamed cop's conversation. Where did you even get that from? Don't real journalists always include citations with quotes?

I was at the Dish when this happened. I didn't include citations because I personally observed the arrest and the lead-up to the arrest. That's also why this story includes more on-the-scene details than you care for.

We are still waiting for the police to provide us the information you seek.

Yes, at least two.

Wow, and here I just assumed that Gennady swallowed too many drama pills with lunch.

The story writer could have left out (tipped off by a man working at an adjacent home that the stranger was hiding inside the shed next door). The suspect may get out on parole(may have seen person who identified their hiding place), have a partner or friend who will act on their behalf, etc, who could or may go back for revenge or intimidate witness. I don't think its good practice to give too many details in cases like this. Suspect may be looking at a third strike offense which could mean prison for 25 years to life. People should step forward as this witness did but reporters need to be more responsible and possibly leave out who or location of witness who tipped off police to where suspect was hiding.

///and there you have it. Not enough info/too much info. The real crux of the story is the capture of a burglary suspect but the funner safer part is to critique the paper and reporter (drama pills - really?)

The question is, how do we really know the cop "nimbly' hopped the fence? especially if he had one hand on the holster probably a bullet proof vest on, and just ran up a hill, I tend to believe there was some struggle.

These commenters who criticize the reporting of the story would find something to complain about if they won the lottery.

A likely suspect in Stanford burglaries was captured, and some of the stolen items were found in the suspect's car.

To me this is a good result, and I liked reading about it.

I notice that the criticizers always come up with some "funny" name to post under instead of their real one.

Anyone who can hop a fence is indeed nimble, in my book! Congratulations and thank you to the Stanford and Palo Alto police.
