Have a happy and gratitude-filled Independence Day!

Original post made by Perspective, Meadow Park, on Jul 4, 2011

Heat or no heat, I am looking forward to the BBQ and relaxing in gratitude to our founding mothers and fathers who birthed with blood, sweat, tears and sacrifice the miracle of this, the greatest country on earth, the longest running Consititutional Republic in the world, the first and only to acknowledge that we are endowed with inalienable rights that can not be abridged by man,..the rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Now, like Franklin said to a lady in a crowd, who, at the close of the Constitutional Convention, called out, "Mr. Franklin! What kind of a government have you given us?"

"A Republic, madam, if you can hold on to it!"

Let's hope we can hold onto it!

Happy 4th!

I hung a flag outside our house. I am third generation, Chinese, but I appreciate all the opportunities there are here in America. That's why everyone wants to immigrate to here. More people should hang the American flag, as a tribute to freedom and our veterans. Too many Americans don't appreciate living in the United States.

Yup. Agreed. Takes children of immigrants to really understand what great gift our foremothers and forefathers brought us by moving here. Too many of us have no clue the limits on speech, opportunity, religion, personal liberty, property rights and self-defense most of the world places on people.

I enjoyed yesterday quite a bit, and hope you all did, too.

Don't miss out on the discussion!
