A College Terrace Improvement Project

Original post made by Lois, Midtown, on Nov 4, 2010

An item on the City Council Agenda for Monday nights meeting caught my eye: "Approval of Construction Contract With Granite Rock Company DBA
Pavex Construction Division, in a Total Amount Not to Exceed
$930,389 for Construction of the El Camino Real/Stanford Avenue
Streetscape and Intersection Improvements Project (CIP PL-07002)"
Does it need improving?

Nearly every other infrastructure project in the City is on hold waiting for the new Infrastructure Committee to rule on whether the City has the money to go forward with the project.

The improvements to the intersection of Stanford Avenue and El Camino Real will cost close to $1 Million but miraculously our City suddenly seems to have the money to go forward with this project.

San Antonio Road is the only truck route into town but roots of the stone pine trees leave the roadway so uneven and rutted that truck drivers won't use it, they turn up Charleston instead. The City won't even cut back the stone pine trees that hang down so low they hit the cabs. We were told at a meeting some six months ago that work would begin soon, but nothing has been approved.
