The Palo Alto Police Department is inviting the public to “Meet the Chief” on Wednesday, July 21, at Juana Briones Park. The event, which occurs monthly in Palo Alto, will run from 6:30 to 8 p.m., according to a press release.
Palo Alto Police Chief Dennis Burns, currently also acting as the city’s interim fire chief, will speak along with other members of the police department. They will discuss current crime trends and community perspectives, and respond to questions.

Yeah De Stihl, and you sound very open-minded and objective. Why don’t you attend the meeting. You might learn something. Your energy might be served encouraging East Palo Alto to wake up and deal with their high degree of gangs, drug dealing, violence, substance/alcohol abuse, and street crime. I think that’s where the problems lie, not in your unqualified, misguided perception of what you think the police are doing. Typical though. Point fingers at the police, schools, society, or the government. Everybody but the idiots that are causing the problems to begin with. Pathetic.
You know, Felipe, your town’s PD still has a lousy rep re how it deals with black men, especially black men who aren’t criminals. It’s scary but not surprising that you residents of PA are still in deep denial about this type of institutionalized racism.
Many EPA residents who work, shop and conduct business in PA which contributes to city and business owner revenue are looking to see how Burns is going to shape the code of conduct of his department, especially in how they deal with this nasty issue. Morever, city and community leaders in EPA are keeping a watchful eye and will take needed action if the problems remain. Luckily, Burns seems hip to this and is much better at dealing with the issue. We’ll see how it plays out.

Your forgetting Mr. Burns was Lynne Johnson’s right hand man and said nothing during / concerning Johnson’s provocative racist remarks.
Also Johnson’s media spokesperson Dan Ryan said Johnson’s statements were truncated to place Johnson comments in an unfavorable light.
In, fact Pat Burt questioned Dan Ryan’s own media statements in the Daily Post. Just Google…Lets see if Jay censors these comments.
And you know that they are no longer collecting demographic data. There is no way to check on this anymore. Good job City Council for cutting the position…
