A 20-year-old East Palo Alto man who fired a revolver at police officers during a traffic stop faces five felony charges, including attempted murder. He could face life in prison if convicted.

Miguel Alvarado was stopped by East Palo Alto police on April 13 and took off running from two officers. As the officers pursued, Alvarado allegedly pulled out a revolver and fired at the police. No one was struck and Alvarado was arrested in Mountain View two days later at the home of his 18-year-old girlfriend’s mother.

Alvarado is charged with two counts of attempted murder with special allegations of attempted murder on peace officers and enhancements of discharging a firearm; one charge of impersonating another individual; one charge of carrying a loaded firearm in a public place and one charge of carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle.

If convicted, he faces life in prison with possibility of parole, according to Karen Guidotti, San Mateo County assistant district attorney.

Alvarado is scheduled to appear in Redwood City felony court to enter a plea Friday afternoon. He remains in custody on a no-bail status.

  1. even frost is given benefit of doubt. never a non white, not just this incident, but also non violent incidfents. minorities always ”convicted”. glad muslims are speaking up about insults to allah.

  2. Police already have a difficult task. They deserve respect and assistance in getting their jobs accomplished.

It can be an inconvenience if one is stopped for any reason, however, it is part of our daily life.

    God Bless.

  3. So b, of monroe park, how can you compare a vagrant being cited for pan handling to an individual evading police after firing at them? Makes me wonder what kind of world we live in when people can’t seem to see the difference.

  4. the person said it applies to even non violent incidents, that non whites never get benefit of doubt. not comparing the incidents, typical white people. always putting words togeteher without thinking what was said, good that muslims know about sec. of state madelyn albright dismissing the deatrh of 500, 000 iraqi civilians as ”just the way it goes” murder has ”everything to do with” the so called ”justice” system and military. the police are a civilian branch of the militaery. same killers.

  5. No body cares about your religion or skin color, you can’t shoot at police officers. If you think that its ok, be my guest, when you get riddled with bullets I’m sure you’ll be doing your cause well, just hope they don’t put you in prison for life, because I don’t want you wasting my tax dollars for your selfishness.

  6. Making this about anything but a 20 year old being brought up to have values and the lack of brains to not shoot at police officers is just not the point.

I hope they give this kid life. I have no use for sharing a world with someone who thinks a gun is the solution to a parking ticket.

The problem is how do we keep from creating so many of these kinds of people. This is a serious problem. Our science and technology can do amazing things, but the country and the world is getting swamped with people who have no place in it and are crazy or driven crazy by that. The cost of this any way you look at it is unacceptable so we need to find a way to avoid it, it is a number one priority of this country.

  7. >> you people are scared, that is why you are obsessed with ”crime reports” you have no joy for life.

Really, thanks so much, I’ll have to think about that, joylessly or course. 😉
