Police have arrested one man in connection with a string of armed robberies in Mountain View this month, including one at a 7-Eleven store Saturday night, police spokeswoman Liz Wylie reported Sunday.

Derreck Stamper, 20, of Newark, was arrested after a Mountain View police chase that ended in East Palo Alto, where a Mountain View police dog and his handler apprehended him.

Stamper is believed to have been involved in at least three of six robberies that occurred in Mountain View this month, she said.

All six robberies have similar suspect descriptions and were committed in similar fashions, Wylie said.

Stamper is believed to be one of three men to rob the 7-Eleven store Saturday night, she said. The other two remain at large.

Each of the six robberies have involved two or three men dressed in black and carrying small handguns, Wylie said.

  1. Thanks alot Daily News. Your trash reporting is why we so dislike the Daily News in East Palo Alto. Any way the Daily reporters can make East Palo Alto look bad,you will. On this story, all the news service agency’s (all of them and televison)reported this guy lived IN and CAME from NEWARK, CA. Oh but no! Not the Daily News, you needed to report that he was caught in East Palo Alto as the headline, which is inaccurate. The raod he was on just happens to be on the Cal Trans owned road out of Palo Alto to the freeway to NEWARK! Give us a break. The Daily News needs to stop bash reporting on East Palo Alto. East Palo Altans should BOYCOTT the Daily News everyday in every way. This type of trash reporting has gone on for too long. We’re sick of it. Get it right and stop looking for dramatic say nothing headlines!
