Local prep grads help Princeton to third place in NCAA water polo

On a day when USC edged UCLA, 7-6, in the championship match of the men's NCAA Water Polo Championships, host Princeton perhaps made an even bigger splash with a 6-5 win over Loyola Marymount to claim third place in the national finals. Menlo School grad Mike Merlone of Atherton had seven saves in goal for the No. 13-ranked Tigers (16-12) in their own pool on Sunday.

Another "local prep grad... Shout out for Tim Wenzlau! PALY '09, and an integral member of the Tigers wopo team this year as well.
