Found: Iphone downtown area

Original post made by RS, Duveneck/St. Francis, on May 11, 2009

I found an Iphone in the downtown area. If someone is missing one, I'll be taking to to the PAPD found department soon. The battery ran down right after I found it. It has a distinctive protective cover. If you see this and think it might be yours, post and I'll try to get by the PAPD sooner than later.

The person who lost this phone is more likely looking for it on Craigslist than here

If no one has claimed it yet, I'm sure you can get it powered on at the apple store downtown, or one of the thousands of people in the area with an iPod/iPhone and figure out who the owner is.

Just a thought

Called the Apple store they were nice about it, but not interested in helping me figure out the owner although they admited they could, but could not give the owner info to me which I agree with and were unwilling to take the Iphone from me to transfer to the owner.

I once found a Verizon phone and it had been cancelled so I couldn't find the owner. I took it to the Verizon store and they told me they would contact the owner and I left it there. Why should you want to keep it to give to the owner when the Apple Store could do it for you?

"...when the Apple Store could do it for you?"

Perhaps I did not state this clearly. The apple store is unwilling to find the owner. They dont want to have anything to do with restoring this handset to its owner. Although this seems like the logical and best choice since they said they do have the information, it is not an option to drop it off there. I'm just dropping it off to the PAPD on the weekend.
