Wanted: Disaster First Responders

Original post made by Paul, The Greenhouse, on Feb 21, 2009

The Palo Alto Fire Department’s Office of Emergency Services still has room in its five-week Community Emergency Response Team training beginning Wednesday February 25 through Wednesday March 25. Two time slots are available: either 9:00 – Noon or 6:30 – 9:00 pm. A detailed 2009 calendar is at Web Link

Offered free of charge to Palo Alto and Stanford residents, the program known as Palo Alto Neighborhood Disaster Activities (PANDA) includes hands-on training in Triage, Disaster First Aid, Light Search and Rescue and Small Fire Suppression among others.

After taking this course, you will have important skills and protective equipment that enable you to respond *safely* to the community after a disaster when the professional 1st responders may be overwhelmed. Join us in celebrating the 10th anniversary of the program by becoming “PANDA Prepared”.

To sign-up, please contact Paul Lufkin, PANDA Coordinator, at (650) 617-3197 or email Panda@cityofpaloalto.org. For more information please visit the PANDA web page at Web Link

People helping Humans. The kind of people you want living next to you. Anywhere.

Wish I had the chance to work with people like these. Department politics and enviorment of fear/mistrust got in the way.
