This story would be more helpful if it included the location...

Well, it was a walk-in closet. Nothing like that in Eichlers.
So not likely it was my neighborhood. But yes, it would be good to know the approximate area of the crime.

Some indication of the location would be good.

It would also be nice to know if the doors and windows were locked and how the break in occurred in the first place.
This is another wake up call to keep ALL doors and windows locked when you are not at home.

My moms in an Eichler from the 70's. They have small
walk in closets in the master bedroom.
WHERE did this happen???

Everett.

It sounds like it was near the San Francisquito Creek - maybe near the Chaucer Street Bridge which is a quick connection to Menlo Park - near Woodland. So that is why the Menlo Park and Atheron PD's were involved. None of the 'Barrett and Hilp' homes have walk-in closets unless remodeled.

According to local.live.com, 500 block of Everett Avenue is approx. between Cowper and Webster Sts. in north of downtown neighborhood.

MP and Atherton PD help was due to having available K9s, not due to location of crime. There is local, reciprocal help of dept. K9s when needed and when there are enough officers on patrol in their own towns to allow an officer leaving for another city.

Did I miss something? I thought I read the "500 block of Everett Ave"
without giving the exact address of the crime I think it's much better than saying "downtown Palo Alto"

Good job Jake. At least one of you can read. Pay attention people before you critisize.

Yeah, there were too many irresponsible speed readers here. I caught the "500 Everett" when I read it and then scrolled down to this nightmare of people asking the location.

The confusion over the location is from the story first posting without the location. The story was updated later with the location. Since the updates are not shown as such, it makes the earlier posts look out of context.

I'm just glad to see the burglar finally came out of the closet.

The "500 BLK of Everett" part was not in the inital story that was posted at 9:17am. It was added in the update that was posted at 12:31pm. So everyone needs to chill out and read more carefully and not be so quick to judge.

5,'3 no wonder he was in the closet, he probably was really scared. He needs counseling.
