The problem is that they will be arrested and then once out of jail, they will do the same thing again. It's a temporary fix.

They will be in custody awaiting trial for about a year and then take a plea. A plea bargain will be 1 year jail, which will be time served, and 3 years probation. So, 1 year from now, they will be out on probation.

what kind of drugs were recovered? stupdid the kind that pays the bills, provide food on the table etc. The task force made some people think thier doing something about the rise on crime in East Palo Alto. You do two things provide jobs and people want be in the streets as much. Some will get jobs some want those who dont we will continue to hear and read about them. Or police can ride heavy on the streets all day everyday right, and how long will that last?

The kind of drugs recovered is important. If it is pot, society yawns and the sentances may be less. If it is cocane or heroin, the judges take more notice and I would hope there are stiffer penalties. If it is meth I would advocate losing the key to the jail cell. The kind of drug they were selling indicates the level of damage they were doing to the people they sold it to.

They call themselves The Taliban? Same name as the terrorists who prey on anyone not in line with their beliefs? Who have killed untold numbers of people? What a bunch of stinking cretinous losers. Prosecute them under some part of the Homeland Security act. Are they even legal citizens of the U.S? Why are these groups allowed to proliferate? Good work arresting those two, now please get the rest and put them somewhere they will never see the light of day.

The TALIBAN? What disgusting people! Bad enough they run gangs, weapson and drugs. They model themselves after Afghanistan's ruling terroristic faction? What a bunch of disgusting individuals.

Now now, let's not get all worked up over the name. Young people will select things like that for their shock value without giving thought to the full implications. I wouldn't let that part of this story bother me too much. It speaks more of their brains than their intentions.
If you want to talk about their intentions, let's look at the drugs they were peddling and the guns they had.

So if the gang calls itself "The Taliban" it leads some to call for a Homeland Security involvement? !!
If I ever start a gang I'm going to call it "The Nutcracker Ballerinas". That way some irate citizens will call for my gang to be incarcerated in the War Memorial in SF.

Hell yes I would call in Homeland Security. For two reasons.
1. Pukey little cowardly thugs like that think they are big men. Let them have a scare put into them from someone other than the local law enforcement. Maybe a few of their members will think twice about being so stupid.
2. A lot of groups studying terrorist groups and their recruitment tactics have voiced that strikes against Americans within the US can be something as innocuous as causing mishaps and trouble on a local basis. We do not know exactly whom they are targeting as possible members, but we do know the hostile and disenfranchised are a good start. So, like the Scarlet Letter, maybe they are a fringe group hidden in plain sight. Under something we recognize, a local gang.

And in the immortal words of J. Edgar Hoover.........
So now that the "hostile and disenfrnachised" are a good target (supposedly) we can now view any militant protest by such elements to be potentially terroristic?
How about those people that occupied a closing plant in Ill.? I heard they were mostly Latino. (hey like Jose Padilla!). And disenfranchised! Quick call Homeland Security.

Yawn. Look Henny Penny aka Moose, you really lose your point with your doomsday pontificating. People have the right to peaceful assembly for the purpose of protest. People do NOT have the right to run about heavily armed with the sole purpose of their organization geared toward criminal enterprise.

First off you all dont know these people Jason is the nicest guy you could ever ever imagine, very respectful and outgoing. Hes the type of guy that when you didnt have money for lunch he would take care of it for you and NEVER ask you to repay it. I have known him for over a year and a half and he has been doing his hardest to stay straight and not go back to the life of the streets. JJ were waiting for you and you know we all read the newspapers :) thats how we found out.
Wrong place at the wrong time.
