Micah Springer is my cousin. I love him to the fullest and may God be with my family through this treacherous time! We all love you Micah and are very proud of your accomplishments.

I've know Micah since the first grade. He and I used to compete with each other over everything, from who would sit in the front seat of the car to who could get a higher score on their tests. When I first heard of the accident it didn't seem real, it still feels like someone will say that they were mistaken and that Micah is doing fine. Losing someone is never easy, and to lose them so suddenly leaves you wishing you had spent more time with them. I loved Micah as a very dear and sweet friend and my only wish is that I had been able to tell him that. Even now looking at his piture he still looks like the same mild mannered "know-it-all" I knew back then (only with facial hair) To his Mom, Dad and Lil' Bro, I love you all too and I will be praying for you. It's so hard to know what to say when a tragedy like this happens, but I do know that Micah hated to see anyone upset especially his family and friends. He was always cheering me up and making me smile, and so my hope and prayer is that you will be able find the strength to think of him, and all he was, and smile without crying someday very soon.

jj,
Which curve was it? Highway 1 is dangerous, if you don't know the road and you're driving at night then it would be all too easy to misjudge without going too fast. Going south, they would have been on the ocean side. I notice all three were from flatter parts of the country.
To the friends and families of the three--I am so sorry for your loss.

I was there. Search and rescue did not find them. We found the car and called in the latitude & longitude from our GPS unit. The sheriff's office, while cooperative, weren't escalating search and rescue efforts because these were "three adults not at risk." Aka not a pregnant woman or cute little kid.

I have known Viet and his parents for over 10 years now and they're family to me and my parents. Words cannot describe this tragic lost for his parents and the rest of his family and friends. Viet is so loved and respected by his friends and family and he will be dearly missed by all of us. May God bless him and help all of us find peace and acceptance during this difficult time! My deepest condolences to the families of Mica and Chris as well!
To "JJ", I think your comments, "...We have driven that curve many times, is no big deal at 65MPH no problem how fast were they going?" were extremely inappropriate under the circumstances. Please have respect for these victims and their family while everyone is grieving for the lost and not post such nonsense...!

I'm not entirely sure, but I think it was this spot, which looks indeed somewhat dangerous: 36.357284,-121.902709. I'm sorry for this tragic loss. Please be safe.

It said Hurricane Point in one of the papers, not sure which one that is. But basically driving at night in a Jeep--all it takes is the curve you didn't see.
Wesley, sounds like it was a horrible situation for you guys. I know it must feel a bit futile, but I commend you guys for going out and looking for your friends.

I went to Ohio State with Micah and he stood out as one of the most intelligent, funny, and downright nicest folks I had ever met. Both of us were aspiring rocket scientists, but I knew Micah would go further than anyone else in our department in his studies and career. It pained me to see his short but amazing life end this way--he has done way more than most folks would ever do at his age.
To the families of all three victims, my deepest condolences and my thoughts and prayers for everyone, as I share your grief.

I have known Micah since he was 3 years old and his family too. We got through some tough times here at Nationwide Children's Hospital and I have watched him grow into a fine young man with so much potential. I am truly grieved -how devastating to overcome a life-threatening illnes and then die so young in an auto accident. My thoughts and prayers are with the family that God may surround them with the sense of His presence and love and comfort at this most difficult time.

I am so sad to see that we have lost Micah. He was one of my students at Eastwood Jr. Academy. Micah was a very bright, cheerful and kind young person. I do remember he and Ashley Napier often completing to outdo each other in a good natured way. That is a good memory. I feel so badly for his family. What incredible pain they must be experiencing. They are in my prayers. As a believer, I am so thankful that we have "this hope". Jesus will call Micah from this temporary "sleep" when He comes again. We will all get to be with and enjoy Micah's wonderful company again. This is a comfort. Even so come, Lord Jesus, come.

It blows my mind that the world has lost such an intelligent, passionate, and loving young man in Micah. I knew Micah while in grade school, I always remember he and Ashley competing to out do each other, and the rest of our tiny little school K-8 school all looked up to him because it was clear that he was brilliant and would do such great things with himself. What makes this loss so much more devestating is the immense potential that resides in Micah. Very few individuals make it out our crazy little city of Columbus, and if they do they often leave for all of the wrong reasons. To know that Micah was off doing something truly great, and would surely use his talents to make this world so much better, something that we all knew he would do even at the age of 5 and 6, it comes as such a bitter blow........my thoughts and prayers go out to the Springer family and friends, those that knew him well and those who were blessed with his presence for only a moment. Micah, you will be sorely missed.
