Roche to exit Palo Alto, pending Genentech deal

The Swiss pharmaceutical company Roche will close its Palo Alto office, where it employs 1,000 workers, if its bid to acquire biotechnology giant Genentech is successful, according to Jacqueline Wallach, Roche's vice president of communications.

According to this article Web Link Roche will move a lot of jobs out of Palo Alto even if the Genentech deal falls through. Not good.

"Regardless of whether the deal goes through, the inflammation business will move to New Jersey, said Roche spokeswoman Nina Devlin of Brunswick Group, a New York City public relations firm. That business has been a cornerstone of the Palo Alto site since it was the home of Syntex Corp."
