Harvesting the local landscape

Winemakers in Bordeaux have known about it for centuries. In the past decade, even California vintners have caught on to the idea. Now it appears to be filtering down from the vineyard to the fields of agriculture. We're talking about terroir.

    So when will the first Vin de Palo Alto become available and is this year a good vintage?

    You should ask Michael Martella up at Fogarty Winery, or Paul Draper at Ridge Vineyards (although that's technically Cupertino) . . .
