Profile: Palo Altans for Government Effectiveness

Civic engagement didn't just pop onto the city's 2008 priority list. Since 2003, a group known as PAGE (Palo Altans for Government Effectiveness) -- created by current Mayor Larry Klein, architect John Northway and a core of other well-known locals -- has been working to promote respectful involvement with local government.

Filter out PAGE's happytalk and it boils down to a polite insistence on reaching a consensus in accord with mainstream establishment values and then stifling all remaining dissent.
