I feel for the neighbors in this scenario. One never knows who it is who lives in the same street as you. Rather than trusting our neighbors, I hope that we don't have to live in fear in this community.

Why this rush to judge? I love trusting my neighbors. I am of course distressed that this happens, but it does not make me fear this community.

We have had block parties on our street for the past 15 years, we have trick or treaters from all over Ventura Neighborhood each Halloween, we have neighborhood meetings, and an email contact list to stay in touch. My neighbors take in my mail, sign for packages that come when I am not there, say hi to my kids when they are out on their bikes, and feed my cat when I am gone. They are great neighbors.

Of course if you get hundreds of folks living in the same neighborhood, there might be a bad neighbor, or someone's relative or friend that made some bad decisions but I don't think it makes a bad community.
