Original post made by Laurie Hastings, Community Center, on Sep 11, 2007

The Palo Alto City Library is celebrating Teen Read Week 2007 from October 14-19. The theme this year is "[email protected]" and the Library is sponsoring a "TEEN VIDEO OR COMIC CONTEST". Teens in grades 6-12 are invited to create a YouTube video or draw a comic about "What's so funny about Palo Alto?". Videos may be uploaded and cartoons may be submitted any time between September 4 and October 12. $50 grand prizes will be awarded to both the winning video and the winning cartoon. There will be a special viewing party on Friday, October 19 at 4:30 p.m. at the Mitchell Park Library (3700 Middlefield Road). For information: Web Link [email protected] or 650-329-2436 (#2 for Reference).

This sounds like a really good idea.

Let's have more in the future.

Yes, the Library has some exciting activities and programs planned for teens this school year including a poetry slam, lunchtime book clubs for each grade at all three middle schools, book discussions at Gunn and Paly in conjuction with Silicon Valley Reads, monthly meetings of the Library's Teen Advisory Board (T-LAB) and a program on blogging during Teen Tech Week . . . just to name a few. If you have a teen at home, please let him/her know.
