The Foothill Music Theatre production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's 1940s classic "Carousel" is a high-powered affair that may fall a little short of its Broadway ambitions. But who needs Broadway when a local theater troupe is having so much fun?

The production was good...actors excellent. .. brilliant set designs but the show didn't have punch or pizazz! I think that's more about the actual book, than this production.

Carousel is one of the most boring (or should I say worst) stories from Rogers & Hammerstein. The musical numbers were excellent - there are not great show-stopping songs really as in other R&H musicals. Also the story line? What's it all about? What's the point? Left feeling a bit more dismal rather than uplifted as I felt with other musicals of that era. The overture and the opening number (the one scene where they actually have a carousel) whet my appetite for more bravo moments, but few came. The dancing scenes were fun and well-done, and the leads were excellent. I didn't find the chemistry problem between Bigalow and Julie. I just thought the show was too long...and lacked the pizazz that breathes life into the stage.

BRAVO to the pit. Orchestra was awesome!
