Picnic for Peace?

Original post made by Gus L., Barron Park, on May 23, 2007

This Muslim Picnic for Peace is a lousy idea.
How about celebrating Memorial Day forthe sake of remembering those who gave their lives Serving our country so that we could live free?

What Muslim Peace Picnic?

Is it a Muslim Peace Picnic for the Muslim Community to declare they are on the same side of peaceful democratic dissent as the fallen soldiers we honor on Memorial Day? In other words, is it to tell their youth that they condemn homicidal suicide bombings? If so, I am for it.

"Researchers, however, were alarmed by findings that 15 percent of young Muslims - those 18 to 29 years old - said suicide bombings were "often" or "sometimes" justified. Plus, another 11 percent said bombings were justified, but only "rarely." The majority of young Muslims - 69 percent - said such actions were never right."
