Home burglaries in Palo Alto

Original post made by Palo Alto Resident, Old Palo Alto, on Apr 15, 2007

Has anyone experienced a home burglary in Palo Alto and then been contacted (at your home) by a representative from ADT Security Systems offering free installation for an alarm system? We were approached within 1-2 days after the incident.

Not a burglary of our home, but we did get a call aroundthe same time (within the same week)as the rash of burglaries in Midtown and South PA. They probably just scan the pollice reports to see who likely has a heightened fear of burglary.

I know one is jittery, fearful and non-trusting after an incident, and it may be ok to suspect anything and everything but I feel (my feeling only) ADT and its contractors are professional people.
My 2 cents.

An older friend of mine who lives in Los Altos, pretty near El Camino, had the exact same thing happen almost two months ago. Yeah, very suspicious to me.
