New restaurant downtown -- Zucca

Original post made by David, Professorville, on Dec 19, 2006

There is a new restaurant downtown in the spot occupied for years by Trattoria Romana. It is called Zucca.

Has anyone tried it?

There is a restaurant in Castro St. Mountain View with the same name, and if it is related, then I would recommend it. The Castro Street restaurant is a refreshing change from the usual with good service and good food.

Just what we need -- another Italian restaurant.

It's French w/ Mediterranean touches, similar their Mt. View place. It looks chic from the outside. I haven't tried it yet, but it looks promising.

It is related to the Zucca in Mountain View. The food was excellent, but they are still ironing out some kinks. I think it has the potential to be excellent.

Great new place! I love their Mt. View locale as well. Their cheese plate is a must.

This restaurant was the worst--the food was not cooked properly and it took hours (yes, hours) to get through the meal since the service was so slow and inattentive. It ruined Mothers Day.

We gave up on the take mom out for mothers day years ago for the very reasons you mention. Who really wants to eat out on the busiest eat out day of the year. Cook a meal yourself for your mom, show her you learnt from her how to cook and take her out on her birthday.

Mothers Day is now a guilt ridden obligation. I much prefer a vew simple but heartfelt sentiments - Breakfast in bed, help in the kitchen, specially written poetry (from my 11 year old son) and a happy family having some laughter together.

Try Zucca on a less stressful day, I really enjoy the one in Castro Street.
