One of the maddening things is that some of the theft and vandalism is repeated, with the same room(s), or same items getting stolen, or broken, over and over - in spite of attempts to keep them safe. School administrative and teaching staff are helpless in the face of this kind of thing.
Bathrooms are often marked up, and other school assets are often abused and/or stolen.
Further, PAUSD campuses are NOT safe in the evening. Building exteriors are poorly lit.
It's simply time to install surveillance cameras, so that we can deter vandalism, and more serious crime.
Other school systems have begun to do this; it will improve property and personal safety, and save taxpayer's money in the long run. It's a no-brainer.
