Getting five different players in the scoring column, the Castilleja soccer team tuned up for its second week in the Palo Alto Winter Classic with a 6-1 nonleague triumph over Pinewood at the Mayfield Soccer Complex on Tuesday.
Pinewood actually grabbed a 1-0 lead just 10 minutes into the match before Castilleja (3-1) responded when junior Caitlin Colvin stole a clearance from the keeper and scored. Just a minute later, junior Emily Mosbacher stole the ball at midfield and wound up scoring with a shot just under the crossbar. In the 38th minute, Colvin took a corner and Mosbacher got her head on it but the shot was blocked. Mosbacher got the rebound and scored for a 3-1 lead.
Castilleja continued its scoring rampage in the second half when Mosbacher passed to freshman Gabby Kaplan, who dribbled through traffic and found the net. Sophomore Roshan Malekmadani later scored off an assist from junior Martha Harding and Rachel Brownell scored five minutes later after taking the ball down the left sideline and finishing.
