The Sacred Heart Prep girls’ water polo team started the season ranked No. 1 in the Central Coast Section and finished that way with a 12-4 dunking of Castilleja in the Division II championship match on Saturday at Independence High in San Jose. The top-seeded Gators (26-3) finished the season without a loss to any section competitor and became only the second girls' team ever to win four straight CCS titles.

SHP’s performance was as dominant as the score as the Gators grabbed an 8-0 lead before Castilleja senior Natasha von Kaeppler scored the first of her two goals in the third quarter. Catherine Donahoe, only one of four seniors on the SHP roster, had 19 saves in goal. Pippa Temple tallied four goals while fellow juniors Clare Rudolph and Erin Sheridan had three each.
