Menlo School earned its sixth Central Coast Section Division II boys' water polo title, all since winning its first one 11 years ago, with an 11-5 dunking of three-time defending champion Sacred Heart Prep on Saturday at Independence High in San Jose. It was the seventh time the teams had faced each other in the finals. Menlo now leads the series, 4-3, while ruining the Gators' bid to become the first Division II boys' team to win four consecutive titles.

Junior Nick Hale had five goals while senior John Holland-McCowan added three as the No. 2-seeded Knights (18-9) avenged two earlier season overtime losses to the top-seeded Gators (19-10). Hale and junior Jack Finch each had five steals while Finch added five assists. The Menlo defense shut down Sacred Heart's high-scoring tandem of seniors Philip Bamberg and Robert Dunlevie, limiting each to a single goal.
