The Menlo-Atherton boys’ water polo team opened the second day of the 13th Annual Scott Roche Memorial Tournament with a solid outing against Sir Francis Drake of Marin County, winning 11-5. Senior Co-captain Nick Henze led the balanced attack with 3 goals and junior Emery Welton added a pair. Evan Navarro got the Bears on the board first with a goal off a nice pass from Max Wilder. Morgan Olson-Fabbro scored from the hole position, Graham McClelland on a power play and Henze on a fast break off a Zach Deal steal to put M-A up for good 4-0 at the end of the first quarter. Evan McClelland scored from outside, Jake Bercow on a power play he earned and Deal on a pinpoint pass from Hunter Carmichael to round out the scoring for Coach Marco Palazzo’s boys. Alex Gow was as stingy as ever in the cage with 10 blocked shots and Graham McClelland led the defense with 3 steals. The Bears have one match remaining in the tourney as they play Bonita High School for 9th pace at 3PM Saturday at the M-A Spieker Pool. M-A’s season record stands at 5-3
