Palo Alto High grad Alex Schmarzo, 21, was selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the 48th round on Day 3 of the Major League Baseball first-year amateur player draft on Wednesday. Schmarzo, a 6-foot-3, 205-pound pitcher, just finished his junior year at St. Mary's College.
