A tightly contested and emotional game was played as Paly wanted a second win over Los Altos this season and Los Altos was determined to turn things around, after losing its first league game to Mountain View, 3-2. The lone goal came roughly 70 minutes into the game. Los Altos was awarded a corner kick. Emily Langston took the kick and the ball found the top of Halli Keenan's head before arcing into the net, surprising Paly's freshman goalie Alex Kershner. Kershner may have been surprised by the game-winning goal, but she was clearly the Paly team's "rockstar" as she made 12 spectacular saves throughout the game, 4 of which were direct kicks beautifully shot toward the top of the net, requiring every inch of her height and arm-length to stop. Kershner had loads of help from defenders Sydney Lundgren (jr), Claire Skrabutenas (soph), Caitlin Watson (jr) and Elizabeth Petit (jr).

Undefeated Palo Alto High girls varsity soccer fell 0-1 to rival Los Altos in their only loss this season. This hard fought match was a stalemate until the waning minutes of the second half. Los Altos broke the deadlock with a goal off a corner kick. Paly tried to score an equalizer but time ran out.
