The Menlo School boys’ tennis team will defend its Central Coast Section title when the top-seeded Knights (23-0) take on No. 2 Saratoga (22-3) in the finals on Friday at Courtside Club in Los Gatos at 2 p.m. This will be the third meeting between the teams this season, with Menlo having won the previous two.

This one should be the toughest of the three, especially after the Falcons dismantled No. 3 Bellarmine, 7-0, in the semifinals on Wednesday at Courtside. Menlo took the courts later and eliminated No. 4 seed Palo Alto, 6-1. The Vikings’ only victory was at No. 1 singles where sophomore Nick Hu won a default over senior Jamin Ball after Hu had won the first set, 6-3. Ball was ill before the match started and finally realized it wouldn’t be wise to finish, not with Friday’s huge showdown looming.
