Junior Maurice Williams won three events to spark the Palo Alto boys' track and field team to a 72-54 victory over rival Gunn on Thursday in a SCVAL De Anza Division dual meet on the Titans' track. Williams won the 100 in 11.42, took the long jump at 21-5 1/2 and won the triple jump with a leap of 41-6 1/2. Teammate Bennie Williams had a good winning leap of 6-2 in the high jump for Palo Alto (4-1) while Grant Sauer swept the 110 high hurdles (16.99) and 300 intermediate hurdles (47.14) while picking up additional points with a third in the long jump. Gunn senior Paul Summers had the best individual effort while winning the mile in 4:21.40. It was the final mile of his career. His target time for the race was under 4:20 and Paly senior Philip MacQuitty helped in that attempt by pacing Summers through the first three laps.
