The Palo Alto boys' soccer team broke a two-game scoreless streak with a 5-0 nonleague romp over host Menlo-Atherton on Monday. The Vikings (3-0-3) got the winning goal from Michael Hanabusa just 3:45 into the match. Kevin Ashworh followed with a pair of goals, the second assisted by Adam Zernik, for a 3-0 halftime lead. Hanabusa scored again with just 1:30 gone in the second half (on an assist from Ashworth) and Matt Nguyen closed the scoring on an assist by Elliott Sanborn. Paly will visit Silver Creek in a Homestead Christmas Cup match on Tuesday before hosting Hillsdale in another tournament match at the Mayfield Soccer Complex on Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
