The Stanford synchronized swimming team scored 102 points Saturday to defeat Arizona and Michigan in Tucson. The Wildcats finished second with 27 points, while the Wolverines were third with 20 points.
"The team was able to make some improvements from last weekend," Stanford coach Heather Olson said. "I expect to see better leg extension and energy. It is always a challenge to go straight to a competition off the airplane and the team handled that well."
Stanford swept the trio competition as the Cardinal finished in the top three places. The team of Debbie Chen, Olivia Morgan and Maria Koroleva placed first.
Finishing behind the trio in second place was Madison Crocker, Morgan Fuller and Michelle Moore. The honorary trio, finishing third, was Megan Hansley, Corinne Smith and Wendy Lu.
Seniors Chen and Taylor Durand won the duet competition for the Cardinal while sophomores Koroleva and Morgan came in second.
Freshman Jessica Guenther won the solo competition for the Cardinal yet again. Her teammate Gayle Lee came in second.
