Stanford sophomore Elaine Breeden raced to a victory in the 100 fly, swimming a swift 52.74 in a race that also included former Stanford swimmers Dana Kirk and Tara Kirk in the Texas Invitational on Thursday. The Stanford women's swimming team rests in second place with 288 1-2 points after the first day of the meet. Arizona is in first place with 307 1-2 points. Julia Smit placed second in the 200 IM in 1:51.74 and Brooke Bishop was third in the 50 free with a time of 22.51 for the Cardinal. Stanford's 400 medley relay team was second in 3:38.13. The Invitational, which also features swimmers who are headed to the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, continues through the weekend.
