No. 3 Palo Alto (10-2) arguably played its sloppiest offensive game of the season, but held on to beat No. 2 North Salinas, 7-0 in a CCS Large Division semifinal on Saturday night at Foothill College. Paly will face No. 1 Menlo-Atherton (11-1) for the crown next week. Paly broke open a scoreless game in the third quarter when senior back James McCollough scored on a 32-yard run to give Paly a 7-0 lead. North Salinas (8-4) drove to the Paly three-yard line with 30 seconds to play when Paly senior defensive end Kevin Johnson recovered a fumble to preserve the win.
