Mens Water Polo
USC 10, Stanford 6
Date of competition: Saturday, November 24, 2007
Janson Wigo scored twice but the Stanford men's water polo dropped a 10-6 decision to USC in the semifinals of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation tournament at Cal on Saturday. The loss puts the Cardinal's championship hopes in peril as the Trojans have defeated Stanford three times this year. UC Irvine upset Cal in the other semifinal. To have even a chance of advancing, Stanford must beat Cal in the third-place game and hope that USC beats the Anteaters in the title match. USC would get the conference's automatic bid in that case, and Stanford could make a good case as the at-large team, having beaten Cal and UC Irvine three times this year.
