The Sacred Heart Prep boys' soccer team bounced back from a one-goal deficit in the second half to score a pair of goals in less than two minutes on the way to a 3-1 victory over visiting Menlo School in a West Bay Athletic League match on Friday. The victory keeps the Gators (6-0, 8-3) atop the league standings while the Knights fell to 3-2-1 in league (5-5-1 overall).

Sacred Heart Prep controlled play in the first half, but came away empty-handed -- even after Menlo freshman keeper Timmy Costa was knocked out of the game with less than 24 minutes remaining in the first half. Costa banged heads with SHP's Victor Ojeda, but only Costa was forced to leave the game at that point.

Menlo got on the scoreboard after Vikram Padval was taken down by Ojeda in the penalty box with less than 25 minutes to play. Padval converted the penalty kick and the Knights shockingly were in front -- despite playing without numerous injured starters. Menlo's celebration ended with just under 22 left to play when SHP senior midfielder Riley Fallon beat his defender on the dribble and blasted a shot into the upper right corner of the net past backup goalie Sam Parker, who had to be moved from his forward position when Costa was injured. About two minutes later, Fallon did nearly the same thing as he beat the defender and fired in another goal for a 2-1 lead.

With 4:10 left to play, Ojeda collided with Menlo's Henry Bard in the penalty box. The Gators were awarded a penalty kick, which Kyle Scherba converted for the final tally.

West Bay Athletic League
Menlo 0 1 -- 1
Sacred Heart Prep 0 3 -- 3
Menlo -- Vikram Padval (penalty kick)
SHP -- Riley Fallon (unassisted), Fallon (unassisted), Kyle Scherba (penalty kick)
Records: Menlo 3-2-1 (5-5-1); Sacred Heart Prep 6-0 (8-3)
