Pinewood came up short on the personnel department as cramps and injuries took their toll against Crystal Springs. In the later stages of the match, Pinewood coach Tom Skousen had only nine players available. Fortunately for Pinewood (0-1), first-year keeper Andrew Kruep saw plenty of action in his debut and the junior stopped numerous shots <0x2014> despite being tagged with the loss. Skousen singled out Ethan Alter and Will Critchfield for their efforts. Gable Baze gave Pinewood a quick 1-0 lead in the 28th minute and Connor Whitlock deadlocked the match at 2 before Crystal Springs took control in the second half. Pinewood will open its Private Schools Athletic League season on Friday by hosting Woodside Priory at 3:30 p.m.
