Palo Alto opened its home season, rallying to tie visiting St. Ignatius, 1-1, in a boys' nonleague soccer match on Tuesday. The Vikings (0-0-3) battled back from a 1-0 halftime deficit as senior Ethan Plant scored the tying goal from about 30 yards out. The Wildcats scored first on a bouncing ball in front of the goal that wasn't cleared by the Paly defense before it was tapped in.
