The Sacred Heart Prep boys' water polo team capped a 26-3 season by winning the second Central Coast Section water polo title in program history with a come-from-behind 10-8 win over St. Francis on Saturday in the CCS Division II finals at Independence High in San Jose. The Gators came in seeded No. 1 while the Lancers were No. 2. St. Francis grabbed an 8-6 lead in the fourth quarter on a goal by senior Josh Minnis, but SHP junior Paul Rudolph scored two quick back-to-back goals to tie the match, 8-8, with 4:55 left to play. SHP senior Michael Bausback then gave the Gators their first lead in the game with a goal with 3:27 left and Rudolph finished off a four-goal game a few minutes later. Sacred Heart Prep's first CCS Division II crown came in 2003 when the current SHP seniors were in eighth grade.
