The Menlo girls’ soccer team finished out the week a perfect 3-0 with a 4-1 victory over host Prospect on Friday. Menlo's all around team effort began less than a minute into the game with a goal by senior Nicole Fasola off an assist from sophomore Elyse Adler. Just 14 minutes later, senior Mila Sheeline connected on a corner with Fasola, scoring her second of the match. Junior Kelly Cavan found the back of the net 17 minutes into the second half off an assist from sophomore Shannon Lacy to put Menlo up 3-0.
A few minutes later, Priscilla Spradlin scored Prospect's lone goal off a corner kick by Lily Miller. With 10 minutes left in the match, Menlo senior Katie Baum sealed the game after Fasola ripped a shot off the crossbar. Baum followed it in with her head to put Menlo up for good at 4-1 to cap a 16-goal scoring week by the Menlo offense.
Menlo's defense, led by sophomores Frannie McCarthy, Ellie Laub, freshman Dana Gornick and senior Mila Sheeline, as well as freshmen keeper Julia Dressel, fought well to shut down Prospect's speedy offense. Menlo next faces Castilleja in a nonleague contest Wednesday at the Mayfield Soccer Complex at 3:30 p.m.
