The Sacred Heart Prep girls' water polo team won is third straight Central Coast Section Division II title with a 6-2 victory over St. Ignatius on Saturday at Santa Clara University. The top-seeded Gators finished 22-8 while the No. 3 Wildcats finished 14-12.

The matchup was the fourth for the two teams and probably the toughest for the Gators, who also beat SI in the three previous outings. SHP had to battle all the way despite grabbing a 2-0 first-quarter lead and a 4-1 halftime lead. The Wilcats held SHP scoreless in the third period before the Gators wrapped things up with two goals in the fourth.

Heather Smith, one of only two seniors on the SHP roster, scord three goals while junior Emily Parsons added two and sophomore Erin Sheridan one. Junior goalie Catherine Donahoe had 10 saves, even though the SHP defense made most of them easy ones by clogging the lanes.
