Menlo-Atherton senior goalie Alex Popp fired in a pool-length shot in the third sudden-death overtime period to lift the No. 4 Bears to a 10-9 upset victory over No. 1 Salinas in the Central Coast Section Division I semifinals on Tuesday night at Bellarmine Prep. Junior Simon Hood led the Bears (17-9) with three goals, including one in the first of two overtime periods to deadlock the match, 9-9. Popp blocked a 5-meter penalty shot in the first sudden-death period before providing the winning goal in the ninth period of play.
