The Menlo-Atherton boys' water polo team fell behind by four goals entering the final quarter and couldn't make up the deficit while dropping a 9-5 decision to St. Francis in the semifinals of the Central Coast Section Division I playoffs on Tuesday at Lynbrook High in San Jose. The No. 3-seeded Bears (15-12) got three goals from senior Jed Springer, but the No. 2 Lancers (14-15) made the most of their early lead while winning the rematch of last season's CCS Division I title game.

St. Francis' Peter Olson (#10 dark cap) played tough defense on M-A's Jed Springer all night.

M-A captain Eric Wright scored to close the gap to 8-5 midway through the 4th quarter
