The Gunn High boys' water polo team had to travel all the way to Morgan Hill for a "home" game, but the trip ended up being worth it as the No. 6 Titans eliminated No. 11 Salinas, 11-9, in the first round of the Central Coast Section Division I playoffs on Tuesday.

As has been the case this season, Gunn (19-6) was led by senior Alex Berenfeld. His seven goals led the way while Ben Hendricks added two with Eugene Osher and Alex Doundakov scoring once each.. Gunn held a 7-4 halftime lead but fell behind by 9-8 after three quarters before rallying against the Tri-County Athletic League champion.

Gunn now advances to the quarterfinals on Saturday and will face No. 3 Menlo-Atherton (14-11), which reached the section title game last season. The Bears had a first-round bye.
