In a battle between freshman tennis teammates, Menlo's Giannina Ong produced a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Saga Shermis to highlight the final day of the West Bay Athletic League's Individual Tournament at Menlo School on Wednesday. Ong reached the final with an easy 6-2, 6-1 win over Kristen Chui of Crystal Springs, but Shermis had to battle for a 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 win over Nancy Nguyen of Notre Dame-San Jose. That match wound up taking a lot of energy out of Shermis, who committed a number of uncharacteristic errors against Ong in the title match.
