The Menlo girls' tennis team wrapped up its 16th consecutive league championship with a solid 7-0 victory over second-place Harker in a West Bay Athletic League (Foothill Division) match on Thursday. The Knights finished 10-0 in league (13-8 overall) and improved to 168-0 in league matches since 1994.

The match actually was a lot closer than the final score. Menlo freshman Giannina Ong saved two match points during her 6-1, 1-6, 7-5 victory at No. 1 singles while fellow freshman Saga Shermis defeated her opponent at No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-2, after having lost to her twice this season. At No. 3 singles, Menlo senior Anjali Ranadive wound up saving 10 match points dring here 3-6, 7-5, 12-10 victory. Ranadive trailed 5-2 in the second set but came back to win, and was down 9-4 in the super tiebreaker before rallying to win.

Menlo dominated in doubles, where the No. 2 tandem of Laura Gradiska and Stephanie Carlisle remained unbeaten with a 6-3, 6-1 triumph. Alex Heaney and Eliza Adams won at No. 1 while Lauren Robinson and Caitlin Peltz kept their solid season going with a 6-2, 6-2 win over No. 3. Next up for Menlo will be the WBAL Individual Tournament at Menlo on Tuesday and Wednesday.
