Menlo-Atherton High School did a great job co-hosting the North-South Challenge, the closest we get to a high school state and national championship caliber water polo tourney. They did not perform quite as well in the pool, however, dropping 2 more contests on Saturday. In the morning opener Coach Johnny Bega’s boys came up on the short side of an 8-6 battle with Davis High School (Davis,CA). M-A seniors Eric Wright and Jed Springer each had 2 scores for the Bears. Davis’ Trevor Allen led all players with 4 goals. In the afternoon game they lost a close one 11-8 to Los Alamitos (Los Angeles County). Eric Wright scored 3 times in the 4th period to get the Bears within striking range. Juniors Joe Ferretti and Austin Ringheim each scored 3 to pace the Griffins.

One very minor correction: Los Alamitos is in Orange County. Well done, both M-A and Sacred Heart.
