Varsity Boys Water Polo
San Mateo 14, The Priory 13
Date of competition: Thursday, October 22, 2009
The Priory boys’ water polo team played its best game of the season but it still wasn’t enough to prevent a 14-13 loss to visiting San Mateo in a PAL Ocean Division match on Thursday. No team led by more than two goals the entire game. Michael Wan, who plays the two-meter position, led the Panthers with eight goals.
“We had a lot of ejections, ending up with two of our starters out of the game by the end,” said Priory coach Rob Reinhardt. “It was tied 13-13 in the last quarter with two minutes to go. San Mateo scored with one minute left on the clock, but we couldn't manage to tie it back up. Even though we lost, the Priory no doubt played the best game we have all season.”
