Zander Rohn scored with 1 second on the clock to help the Menlo-Atherton boys’ water polo team jump out to a 5-1 first quarter lead over visiting Sequoia. The Bears never looked back as they handed the Cherokees an 18-6 thumping on Monday afternoon. Ten different players scored for Coach Bega’s boys led by Paolo McCarty and Jed Springer with 4 each. McCarty also added 2 steals and earned 2 ejections to lead those categories. Sophomore goalkeeper, Alex Gow, had 17 blocked shots and Max Wilder and Springer had 2 assists each. Springer’s season total for goals scored now stands at 67. The Bears improve to 7-2 in PAL play and 13-6 overall. M-A will next see action on Friday and Saturday as they co-host the North-South Challenge at the Menlo-Atherton Spieker Pool, pitting the top teams from Northern California against the best from Southern California.
